Songs.

How can a simple array of notes, when assembled together, change lives? Songs are dangerously powerful, for they have the ability to make us laugh or cry (or both) in only a few minutes.
Here is a list of my favorite songs at the moment:
"The A Team" by Ed Sheeran
"1901" by Phoenix
"Junk of the Heart" by The Kooks
"Till The Casket Drops" by ZZ Ward
"I Hate Everything About You" by Three Days Grace
"Lightspeed" by Twin Atlantic
"The Rat" by The Walkmen
"Waste" by Foster The People
"Pair Of Jacks" by the lost colors
"Fallen" by Death In The Park
"The Church Channel" by Say Anything
That's just at the moment. I'm a busy girl.
Just kidding. I'm never busy. LLS.
My second production of A Midsummer Night's Dream opens tomorrow afternoon. My costume consists of tights and a really heavy flowered coat, which isn't very Puckish if you ask me, but blame my director.
But moving on, it gets very hot onstage, so every time I have a break from performing, I take off my coat and use it as a pillow to sleep, fanning myself with anything I see. Unfortunately, my fellow castmates enjoy tickling me and poking me with things they find on the ground. I don't think they like me.
Anyway, I'm glad this session of camp is almost over. I'm really tired of this play and would like to move on. I've decided to do Fiddler on the Roof next session, but in the meantime, I was unwillingly signed up for Broadway Dance Camp. I hate dancing with a passion, so I'm not looking forward to it, but I'll live.
That's what I keep reminding myself this summer. I'll live.
At least, I hope so.

For God's Sake, Be Magical!

School's finally over! That means bring on the sitting at home and doing nothing all day!
Actually, I've been frequenting a theatre camp. We were originally going to put on The Tempest, but they switched it to A Midsummer Night's Dream because there weren't enough roles. I was completely and utterly pissed at this decision, because I am definitely all Midsummered out, but I rolled with it anyway, because that's the shy, quiet wimp that I am.
Anyway, I got the part of Puck, which, I must say, is VERY definitely from my previous role of Helena. Unfortunately, I think it's too different. I'm so used to being all lovey dovey and cute that this part is challenging for me. I swear, the director is out to get me. He constantly tells me to deliver my lines more magically and act like a fairy. Holy Frijoles, man, who do you think I am? But I'm "getting better."
It doesn't make it any better that I'm still grieving over the loss of my favorite show, Sherlock. I spend half my day checking out fan videos on YouTube. I'm not sure why, but at the moment I'm shipping Sherlock and Moriarty. Here's my favorite relationship video between them:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3DhQ2WmjBuY
I know, I know, why that song? You may find it shocking, but I am actually TOTALLY OBSESSED with that song. It's the first poppy, badly written song I've loved in a long time. That video changed my life, and I love it so much! That song HAS to be some kind of message from Moriarty!
I also have a huge crush on Moriarty. It's probably because he makes such adorable faces. Yeah, you know what I mean...:)
And a strange thing's been happening every time I watch that show. It's pretty much a vicious, confusing cycle involving Josh Moriarty, Jim Moriarty, Mark Foster, and Kimbra. I'll try to explain. So, ever since I went to that concert, I've been obsessed with The Kooks, Foster The People, and Kimbra, and so has my sister. So I looked up Foster The People (cause that's what I do, I stalk bands when I like them) and when I saw a picture of Mark Foster, I immediately thought, MORIARTY! Seriously, Mark looks just like Jim. It's scary, actually! Don't believe me, here's a few examples:

Told you! So, then I looked up Kimbra, and found out that she was dating a guy named Josh Moriarty. Freaky, right? I see the name "Moriarty" and immediately think of Jim Moriarty from Sherlock, who's played by the actor Andrew Scott. And since Andrew Scott looks just like Mark Foster, I think Kimbra's dating Mark Foster. I then turn to my sister and go, "I didn't know Kimbra was dating the guy from Foster The People!" and then she laughs at me for ages.
But really, I have a whole new outlook on Sherlock! In the pool scene I just want Moriarty to say, "This is nonstop, baby. You've got me going crazy," or, "Won't you settle down with me, settle down?" Or maybe a Foster The People quote, which would be more fitting: "All the other kids with the pumped up kicks, you'd better run, better run, faster than my bullet." Even better, "And every day that you want to change, you want to change, yeah, I'll help you see it through 'cause I just really wanna be with you." And, of course, most of all, "Hey, I just met you and this is crazy, but here's my number so call me maybe." I think any of these would be way more intimidating than "I will burn you."
All that aside, though, my summer hasn't been too bad. My mom's been gone for about nine days now on a business trip, so we've been having takeout every night. That's been fun.
And I really missed my friend Alice, so I'm happy to see her at camp.
So basically, I really shouldn't complain, but I'm so much of a pessimist that I really can't help it.
Happy summer everybody!

The Concert!

School's Out! Thank goodness. I was beginning to lose hope.
Unfortunately, I've been bored out of my mind the last five days, and I start camp next week! But it's theatre camp, so that'll be fun, and my friend is going to be there, too.
But...there is one thing I did last Sunday that wasn't so boring I died several times!
I went to a concert! It was officially my first concert that I willingly went to and enjoyed. I've been to other concerts, like Paul McCartney, but I was forced to go and didn't really have fun. Besides, I was like eight when I saw Paul McCartney! Come on, Mom!
Anyway, this was one of the best experiences of my life! I saw Kimbra, The Kooks, and Foster The People at Merriweather Post Pavilion. It was so fun!
We were sitting in the lawn, and at a very steep angle, so whenever you stood up, you had to cling onto the grass for dear life. But it was amazing!
We were supposed to get there early (they posted a code on their Facebook that allowed people to get in early), but they closed the gates five minutes before we got there so we had to wait in line.
Even then, we waited about two and a half hours. It was fun, though! We had a picnic and read. It was about 90 degrees, and I was sweating my skin off, but after the sun went down, it was cooler and more comfortable weather.
Kimbra came out first. The crowd kind of sucked. You can't blame them, because she was the opening act, but she was amazing! That girl really does know how to belt! "Settle Down," one of my favorite songs, was even better than I hoped. I also liked "Cameo Lover" and "Good Intent." It was super loud at first. My mom put in earplugs for the whole concert, claiming she needed to "conserve her hearing." (She told us later that the earplugs blocked out everything but the low tones, so she basically had a bass concert.)
But after a while, you got used to it and it wasn't so bad.
Kimbra only played for about half an hour. There was a short break, and then The Kooks came out. They were really good as well, but their British accent was so strong that I couldn't understand a word they said when they talked between songs. It sort of sounded like this: "All right, this next song is called...fsdfjshdkjdhsfkvjbdfhj." Still, they were wonderful! But they didn't play "Seaside," one of my favorite songs by them!
That being said, they played the rest of the great songs, including "She Moves In Her Own Way," a real great one.
They ended the show with "Naive." My sister and I got up and started to freak out and dance like crazy, because we love that song to death! Seriously, I never knew my sister could dance like that. We really went all out.
Foster The People were incredible! The stage looked so freaking amazing, and all of the music sounded almost exactly like on the record. I danced and sang loudly to every single one of their songs. My favorite songs they played were "Helena Beat," "Call It What You Want," "Waste," "Don't Stop," and, of course, "Pumped Up Kicks."
"Pumped Up Kicks" was their second encore, and it was incredible! Everyone came back onstage, and there were all these special effects and confetti everywhere! These giant inflatable monsters came onstage and started to dance around!
After the amazing last song, we hitched a ride back to our car, where we happily drove back, listening to nothing but the amazing bands we had just heard.
I was really depressed the next day, as I usually am after great experiences, but I am hoping to go to another concert soon. Civil Twilight is playing in DC. Maybe...
See you guys soon.

EXAMS ARE ALMOST OVER!!! =)

Almost time for school, where I shall take the last exam EVER for this year. (Thank God.) After this, everything is is kind of bullcrap. I don't even know if I'll go on Monday.
It's been a pretty good year. The play was really fun and I learned a lot. Although I wish I didn't spend all of that time wound up on boys and stuff. I like to leave that to the cool kids, you know, the ones who sit on each other's laps and shave their heads and pee in the middle of the classroom. Yeah, them.
I'm kind of upset, though, because I'm recieving my first B ever in a class (in math)! (I know, I know, I'm an overachiever.) But still, I'm a bit nervous. I get that it's not a bad grade and it won't matter much, but all I can think about is how weird it will look on my report card next to all those As.
Have to get ready for school. I'm stupid like that sometimes.
Ahem.

"Dear God, what is it like inside your funny little brains? It must be so boring."

I'm obsessed...with Sherlock, the BBC interpretation of Sherlock Holmes. Benedict Cumberbatch is the best Sherlock ever! And although some people say they're all too young, I think it's all just perfect.
My favorite one is A Scandal In Belgravia, but I also like A Study In Pink. I love how Sherlock is just absolute rude to anyone he meets! :)
Oh, words can't even describe my passion for this show! I bought every single episode...I can't wait for Season 3.
I just wanted to blog about my love for Sherlock Holmes. If you have not seen it, there's no time to waste. SEE IT NOW!
No pressure.

"Anderson, turn the other way. You're putting me off. :)"

Hipster much?

The play went well. Missed my cue once. Huzzah.
Moving on, I just read an article on hipsters. My question is, why does everyone hate them so much? I mean, I like indie music and I liked a lot of bands before they became that famous, but how does that prove I am obnoxious? The answer is, it doesn't. So, what the hell? Can't people just leave them alone?
Yeah, I get it. Hipsters are supposedly just trying to be better than everyone else. But has anyone ever thought that they may dress and act that way? Or is there some aspect here that I'm missing?
Either way, I'm not going to let it get to me. Hipsters can keep doing whatever they like doing. I don't care.
While we're talking about music, though, I thought I give a nice, convienient list of my favorite bands/singers. Here goes:
(This is in no particular order, just so you know. Just listing. And there's a lot.)
