The Concert!

School's Out! Thank goodness. I was beginning to lose hope.
Unfortunately, I've been bored out of my mind the last five days, and I start camp next week! But it's theatre camp, so that'll be fun, and my friend is going to be there, too.
But...there is one thing I did last Sunday that wasn't so boring I died several times!
I went to a concert! It was officially my first concert that I willingly went to and enjoyed. I've been to other concerts, like Paul McCartney, but I was forced to go and didn't really have fun. Besides, I was like eight when I saw Paul McCartney! Come on, Mom!
Anyway, this was one of the best experiences of my life! I saw Kimbra, The Kooks, and Foster The People at Merriweather Post Pavilion. It was so fun!
We were sitting in the lawn, and at a very steep angle, so whenever you stood up, you had to cling onto the grass for dear life. But it was amazing!
We were supposed to get there early (they posted a code on their Facebook that allowed people to get in early), but they closed the gates five minutes before we got there so we had to wait in line.
Even then, we waited about two and a half hours. It was fun, though! We had a picnic and read. It was about 90 degrees, and I was sweating my skin off, but after the sun went down, it was cooler and more comfortable weather.
Kimbra came out first. The crowd kind of sucked. You can't blame them, because she was the opening act, but she was amazing! That girl really does know how to belt! "Settle Down," one of my favorite songs, was even better than I hoped. I also liked "Cameo Lover" and "Good Intent." It was super loud at first. My mom put in earplugs for the whole concert, claiming she needed to "conserve her hearing." (She told us later that the earplugs blocked out everything but the low tones, so she basically had a bass concert.)
But after a while, you got used to it and it wasn't so bad.
Kimbra only played for about half an hour. There was a short break, and then The Kooks came out. They were really good as well, but their British accent was so strong that I couldn't understand a word they said when they talked between songs. It sort of sounded like this: "All right, this next song is called...fsdfjshdkjdhsfkvjbdfhj." Still, they were wonderful! But they didn't play "Seaside," one of my favorite songs by them!
That being said, they played the rest of the great songs, including "She Moves In Her Own Way," a real great one.
They ended the show with "Naive." My sister and I got up and started to freak out and dance like crazy, because we love that song to death! Seriously, I never knew my sister could dance like that. We really went all out.
Foster The People were incredible! The stage looked so freaking amazing, and all of the music sounded almost exactly like on the record. I danced and sang loudly to every single one of their songs. My favorite songs they played were "Helena Beat," "Call It What You Want," "Waste," "Don't Stop," and, of course, "Pumped Up Kicks."
"Pumped Up Kicks" was their second encore, and it was incredible! Everyone came back onstage, and there were all these special effects and confetti everywhere! These giant inflatable monsters came onstage and started to dance around!
After the amazing last song, we hitched a ride back to our car, where we happily drove back, listening to nothing but the amazing bands we had just heard.
I was really depressed the next day, as I usually am after great experiences, but I am hoping to go to another concert soon. Civil Twilight is playing in DC. Maybe...
See you guys soon.
